It’s November 2018 now, and officially chilly here in the mid-west! Its never TRULY fall here till the weather settles down and picks what it wants to do.
It’s a little bit later than I had intended, but here is November 2018’s Herb of the Month: Clove.
Clove oil and Powder
Clove oil has a wonderful, Christmas smell. The only thing I can think of when I smell it is the scent that they put on Holiday Pine Cones, or Hobby Lobby in the winter.
As you may know, I have officially opened a shop page here on our blog! If you didn’t know that and are still trying to find some awesome, genuine Christmas or Hanukkah gifts, go check it out. We make cool stuff. We have a Vanilla & Clove candles (and wax melt) that is just amazing, and rightfully named “‘Tis the Season”.
Aside from Clove oils amazing smell, it has a lot of other great qualities for healthy living. Let’s talk about it!
Clove oil as an immune booster.
Clove oil has antioxidant properties that can help to fight free-radicals. That means that it can help the body defend against harmful substances that can cause disease. Clove is an oil that has anti-inflammatory properties, so it can help to clear stuffed up sinus passages if you do get sick.
Putting Clove into a chest rub with Eucalyptus and Peppermint is a great fix for Sinus Congestion!
Clove oil can fight infection.
You can also use clove as part of your home first aid kit! Clove has antiseptic properties, and can be used to help treat cuts, scrapes and stings. Use Clove together with Coconut oil for an ointment. This amazing oil can also reduce swelling and kill bacteria because of its antibacterial properties.
Clove in Food.
Its the holiday season, so you may be noticing that Clove is in just about everything right now. What you might not know is that Clove actually contains a lot of beneficial nutrients, like vitamins C, A, K, zinc, iron, riboflavin, and more.
Adding Clove to food can also benefit digestion! Clove helps to help stimulate secretion of digestive enzymes, and can help fight gastric irritability an Nausea. Organicfacts.net has some great info on all the benefits of Clove, and I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from their site.
That’s it for this Herb of the Month, hope this info was beneficial for you and that you have an awesome, healthy day!
See you next time,
