12 Habits you need as a successful entrepreneur.
1. Successful Entrepreneurs have a set goal
What is it that you want for your business?
This is the first goal you need to have in mind before you start anything.
For me, I wanted to quit my corporate America job, work for myself, and be a stay at home mom for our kids.
I also wanted to make enough money to give my husband the freedom to pursue any dream he wants to go after as well.
Start by writing down your goal and posting it somewhere you can see.
If you work at a desk (like I do!) make a note above your computer that you can always see.
This will keep you motivated towards reaching your goal. Don’t stop until you get there!
This is how you start your journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur.

2. Learn how to use a planner
Using a planner has always been a struggle for me!
This year, I decided that I was finally going to get organized, buy a planner that I really liked, and stick to it.
Doing this actually helped a lot, and the thing that makes the most difference is taking it with you wherever you go.
If your planner is constantly with you, you are more likely to remember to write in it.
Having a planner with a calendar as well as spaces to write down your goals is a good thing to invest in.
And make sure to get one that you like!
Make it fun, there is no need to be boring in your business.

3. Get your mind right
Get your mind right, girl!
My husband, Ashton, says that the core of my personality is “aggressive positivity” like Tony Horton or Jason Mraz.
But that is a mindset for success in life, and I am happy with that!
Having the right mindset is how you win at life.
You are no longer a hobby blogger, a hobby photographer, a hobby YouTuber, etc. You are a business woman.
That means you’re pursuing your passion, and you are going to make money doing it.
There is nothing that can stop you from making your dreams come true.
And your dreams are achievable, no matter how big.

Learning to have the right mindset is going to be one of the biggest obstacles on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
There is a quote by Henry Ford that says, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t… you’re right.”
That is absolutely true.
In order to succeed, you first need to believe that you can.
4. Get up and get work done early
Now a lot of you might hate me for this, but hear me out.
No matter who you are, whether a morning bird or night owl, your brain works best in the earlier hours of the day.
But this doesn’t mean you need to wake up to blog at 3 a.m.
Getting your work done and out of the way first thing will give you a productive, fresh start for the day.
It lets you achieve something first thing, and will help you relax later on in the evening. It also ensures that you get work done.
Really, whatever your least tired part of the day is, that is when you need to be working toward your goals.
To be a successful entrepreneur, you need to commit to your work, and it should be one of the most important parts of your day.
When I first started blogging, I still worked 40hrs a week outside of our home.
That meant every day, getting up with my husband at 5:30 a.m., getting to blogging at 6:30 a.m. and working my butt off, and then going to my “real” job in the afternoon.
This is a tiring schedule, but someday you will be able to quit your “real” job, because your entrepreneur dream job will be your real job.
Make time for your dreams.
5. Successful Entrepreneurs prioritize their work time
This is so important guys!
You need to have specific time set aside for you to work, and you need a schedule.
If you are a YouTuber, this might mean setting aside specific days for filming, and specific days for editing videos.
Maybe you are a blogger.
This means setting aside time to write, a day to email your list, and promotional time on Pinterest and other social media platforms.
Or you could be a writer working on your novel, and you need to have specific time and days of the week set aside to write.
The work is not going to do itself, and you need to keep yourself on top of the game.
Make this a part of your planner that we talked about in section 1.
Write down what days you will be working if you have a job you commute to, write down what days you will work as an entrepreneur, and all other social activities and events.
This way, everything is scheduled, and you have specific work time set aside.

6. Learn how to talk about your biz like it is a business. Not a hobby.
Be proud!
If you talk about your business like a hobby, and like you are just doing it for fun, people will think just that.
You will also start to feel like its just a hobby, and start to get discouraged that that is all it will ever be.
Don’t fall into this trap!
When someone ask’s me “How does writing a blog ACTUALLY make you money?”, I smile and tell them:
“I make money through advertising, selling my own products and affiliate marketing.”
When I talk about my blog, I make my business out to be what it is: a business, not a hobby.
Don’t brush it off and get insecure about it, because your dream is a “real job”, even if you make $3 a month.
Even if you make $0 a month right now, it is still your journey, and no one get’s to make you feel bad about it.
7. Be good about LEARNING about your business
Learn, learn and learn some more.
People go to school to practice and learn about the field they want to go into, so that someday they can have a career in that field.
If you are serious about being a successful entrepreneur, you need to study your niche. Learn your field!
I have studied natural health and wellness since before I started college.
And since starting my business, I have done tons of research, including working in a health food stores vitamin dept. to get some in depth knowledge of herbs and natural medicine.
Since then, I have taken 3 course on blogging and Pinterest marketing to further grow my blog and wellness business.
You need to be willing to invest in your business if you want to thrive in it!
8. Turn off distractions while you are working
Turn off your phone, the TV, the radio, all of it.
Don’t try to multitask when you are getting things done in your business!
This only leads to feeling distracted and forgetting important things, and then hitting publish prematurely.
Make sure you have a clean, noise free work environment where you can concentrate fully.
This is another reason you need to set aside time for yourself to work, because then there are less distractions.

9. Successful Entrepreneurs set money goals for themselves
Don’t just know that you want to make money, know how much money you want to make.
For most, if not all of us, there is a bare minimum when it comes to the amount of income we need a month.
We still have to pay for rent, all the bills, cars, etc…
Know the bare minimum that you NEED to make, and find out after that how much you WANT to make.
This number doesn’t have to be the same.
Figure out your goals for making money, and make this part of your goal that you hang up on the wall, in a place you will see everyday.
10. Study the competition, but not too hard
To learn how to be successful in your niche, its important to research who is already successful in your niche.
This doesn’t mean that you need to copy-cat the people who are already making it big in your niche, but learn from them!
If they have courses, it might be a good idea to buy one and study it.
Having someone to look up to as an entrepreneur can help you to feel less alone in this world. It makes it easier to SEE that your dreams are possible.
Because if someone else can do it, so can you.
Do what works, but remember not to lose your individual spark along the way.
11. Don’t hang around people who don’t believe in you
This is just good common sense.
If you want to achieve your goals and be a successful entrepreneur, you can’t constantly be around people who tell you that you can’t.
You’re real friends are the people that have your back and tell you to push yourself. They root for you, cheer you on and help you reach your goals.
They are proud of you for pursuing your dreams.
If this doesn’t sound like your crowd, maybe you should reconsider who you choose to hang out with.

12. Stick to your guns, because your dreams are achievable
Learning not to doubt yourself is probably my biggest piece of advice.
There will be days when you question whether or not its worth it, and consider going back to a 9-5 just for the security.
On other days you might think that its too hard to make it in this world working for yourself.
But let me tell you, it IS WORTH IT.
It’s worth the work, the money, the tears.
Making something of yourself, for yourself and accomplishing your goals is totally worth it.
Remember your why. Why did you start? Why do you want to be an entrepreneur?
That is the thing you need to remember. It will keep you going, and push you all the way to the end.
In the end, it is all worth it.
Being an entrepreneur is by NO means an easy task, nor will it make you money over night.
But you do have what it takes to make it as a successful entrepreneur.
You know what you need to do to succeed, now go do it!
